Blackjack Surrendering
Today, we'll walk you through everything you need to know about early surrender and max coin betting at US online casinos so you can play blackjack online and hit the slots with more knowledge to win.
Early Surrender
If you've ever sat down to play Blackjack, you know what it feels like when the dealer's hold card trumps your hand. It especially stings when you've got a fairly decent card against the dealer's 10.
A lot of US online casinos sites let you play blackjack with the surrender option. In a nutshell, after a dealer checks his hole card for a Blackjack, he'll invite players to surrender their bet if they don't think they'll be able to beat the dealer.
Late surrender is pretty uncommon at online play blackjack sites and real Las Vegas Casinos, but even more uncommon is early surrender. Still, it's worth talking about. With early surrender, you can surrender half your bet before the dealer checks for Blackjack.
With late surrender, the house edge drops by about 0.07%. With early surrender, it drops by 0.24%. These numbers might seen small, but when you're talking about online play blackjack numbers, each fraction of a decimal is a game changer.
If you can find a US online casino that offers early surrender, it's important to know when you should actually surrender your hand. Use this rule of thumb—against an Ace, surrender with a hard 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17. Against a 10, surrender with a hard 14, 15, 16, or with pairs of sevens.
Maximum Coin Betting
At a lot of online slot machines at online casinos, you've got the option to set your bet. You can set the number of lines you'd like to play at multi-line slot machines. And you can also bet the max (meaning the highest number of credits).
Many US player casino watchers argue that betting the max isn't that wise, especially when you've got a small bankroll to work with. While we tend to agree, we recommend reading the rules of the game before you play.
There are many slot machines that won't award jackpots if you don't bet the maximum number of credits. It's more common to see casino rules that dictate the number of lines you need to play if you want to hit the jackpot, but we've seen max credit rules at some casino sites, too.
If you land on an online play blackjack site that offers slot machines without these rules, you need to figure out whether betting the max is right for you. At the end of the day, online slots work on a Random Number Generator. No one, not even the slot machine, knows how the reels are going to land. That means the player doesn't know whether you've bet the minimum or maximum.
Bottom line? If you can afford it, bet the max. You'll be able to win more should your symbols line up.
